STIAMO ASSISTENDO ALL'INVASIONE DI STRANI PARASSITI SCONOSCIUTI
Alcuni ricercatori si sono imbattuti su un video esposto nel portale You Tube, dove si possono osservare due o tre parassiti che fuoriescono dal corpo di una cavalletta. Questi parassiti sono stati classificati come "sconosciuti".
Riteniamo che queste creature chiamate "hairworms" possano mandare fuori di testa la cavalletta, insomma una sorta di lavaggio del cervello per poi costringerla a saltare in acqua e annegare, perché l'acqua è l'habitat naturale di questi parassiti.
Fortunatamente non sono stati riscontrati casi di "hairworms" nei cani o nei gatti, fino ad ora.

A total of 282 short-horned grasshoppers (Acrididae) was collected in a mountainous area of New Zealand's South Island and examined for hairworm (Nematomorpha) infections. Thirteen percent of female Sigaus obelisci and 3% of female S. australis harbored hairworms; males of both species, as well as male and female S. campestris, were all uninfected. All hairworms recovered belong to the species Euchordodes nigromaculatus, previously known only from wetas (Orthoptera: Stenopelmatidae). No size differences were observed between infected and uninfected grasshoppers, and there was no relationship between host size and worm length. This is the first substantiated report of nematomorphs in grasshoppers in New Zealand.

Siccome non li ho letti tutti ma solo un paio.. non so se ci sia relazione tra cavallette e il comportamento che è stato citato, tuttavia c'è da dire che a questo punto non è affatto una specie sconosciuta e quindi non ha niente di extraterrestre.
